You Always Win With Pilates

Since LSQP’s first year, we have held challenges for our community as a way to celebrate victories, embrace positive change, and welcome new daily habits to keep us healthy and happy. Earlier this year, dozens of our community members participated in our 30 Session Spring Challenge with the goal of completing 30 sessions or classes in 8 weeks. We are excited to announce that one client, Maria D., reached 30 sessions during the challenge and won a free month of membership!

Reading Maria's account of what the Spring Challenge at LSQP meant to her was so encouraging for us and we’re sure it will be for you too. This year has been, shall we say, a bit rough for humans. It still is. As we all know, we're still in the midst of a pandemic, and many of us have been feeling like we're barely muddling our way through these strange times.

Maria's words about what her Pilates practice had done for her reminded LSQP team member, Gaby, of a moment that happened shortly into lockdown last Spring that reminded her of why Pilates is such a solid and valuable methodology. She had begun to go through the 34 exercises of the Classical Mat series each day, (well, sometimes every other day), as a way to manage the anxiety that was present in her mind amidst so much uncertainty. Quickly, she began to notice her body feeling calmer; her overall sense of groundedness increasing; her mind not running at quite the same anxiety octane as it had before she’d begun this daily practice.  She remembers saying something to herself like, "Huh. Yeah, I guess this stuff really works."

Moving our bodies and giving ourselves healing, therapeutic, and challenging movement is what we are passionate about at LSQP. Congratulations to Maria on creating a beautiful Pilates and movement practice. Keep breathing really, really deep breaths, and come see us at the studio!

We would love to share what Maria’s experience was taking on our Spring 30 Session Challenge and what kind of growth it fostered for her:

I confess that I haven’t been this proud of myself in a while. I was so happy to have this challenge as a way to do something good for me as we emerge from all the upheaval of the past year. And of course there is the physical benefit! I feel such a difference. I’m more agile and limber and just generally stronger. I’ve even been sleeping better.

The best part about doing the challenge (aside from the physical benefit) was having a reason to get out of the house and focus on a goal after months of being so stressed and anxious pretty much all of the time. The LSQP teachers and community are so nice to be around! I guess the most motivating factor was knowing that every single time I have taken a class I have felt demonstrably better afterward. There were days that it took some effort to get into the studio but I always told myself I wouldn’t regret it and of course I never did.

My favorite class was definitely my duet sessions with Logan and Ashley. I had already been doing them twice a week for several weeks which was a great foundation to build on. I took a few mat classes for the first time including Stretch and Strengthen on the Foam Roller, Kara’s HIIT class, Booty Barre and Kate’s Rise and Shine class. All were great in their own ways.

We hope that reading Maria’s testimony you will feel inspired to join us on our next challenge and see what amazing milestones and victories you reach along the way. Pilates makes everyone winners at LSQP!
